Who we are

HonduTravel is a travel agency and tour operator with offices in San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa, Honduras. We are responsible for the personal data you give us on this website (hondutravel.com), in our chat and when you message us on WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger or Instagram.

What data we collect

We only ask for what we need to quote and organize your trip:

  • Requests and quotes (hotels, packages, tours, flights and contact): name, email, phone or WhatsApp, dates, destination, number of travelers, children's ages and any comments you write.
  • Deals newsletter: your email, language and the page you subscribed from. In newsletter emails we record whether you open them and which links you click, to learn which deals are interesting.
  • Website chat: the name and contact details you give us, your messages and the files you send (photos or PDF).
  • WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Instagram: when you message us on these Meta apps we receive your name or profile name, your number or user ID, your messages and the files you share.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type and the pages you visit, for website security, spam prevention and to measure our ads.

We don't take online payments: this website does not receive or store card details. Payments are arranged directly with an agent.

How we use it

  • To answer your requests, send you quotes and assist you by email, phone, chat, WhatsApp or social media.
  • To manage your booking with hotels, airlines, tour operators and transportation.
  • To send you our deals newsletter, only if you subscribed. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • To measure the results of our ads on Facebook and Instagram.
  • To protect the website against spam and abuse.

We never sell or rent your data to anyone.

Who we share it with

Only with those we need to provide the service:

  • Your trip's suppliers: hotels, airlines, tour operators, transportation and insurance companies receive the data needed for your booking (for example, passenger names and dates).
  • Technology providers: Hostinger (website and database hosting), our email provider, our customer service system (chat and messages), Cloudflare (anti-spam check on forms), Google Fonts (typefaces) and OpenStreetMap (maps on the contact page).
  • Meta Platforms (Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp): to receive and answer your messages and to measure our ads. Contact details sent to Meta for ad measurement are encoded (SHA-256 hash), not in readable text.
  • Authorities, only when required by law.

Some of these providers store information on servers outside Honduras (for example, in the United States or Europe), with their own security measures.

Cookies and storage

  • Necessary: they keep your session and protect the forms. Without them the website doesn't work properly.
  • Ad measurement: when the Meta Pixel is active, the _fbp and _fbc cookies are used to know whether a visit came from an ad.
  • Chat: stores an identifier in your browser so you don't lose the conversation when you change pages.

You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings; some parts of the website might stop working.

How long we keep it

  • Requests, bookings and conversations: as long as needed to handle your trip and to meet our legal, accounting and tax obligations. After that we delete them.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. We only keep your email marked as "unsubscribed", so we never write to you again.

Your rights

At any time you can ask us to see the data we have about you, correct it, delete it or stop receiving the newsletter. It's free of charge.

How to delete your data

To ask us to delete your personal data, including what we received through WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger or Instagram:

  1. Write to us at carlos@hondutravelhn.com with the subject "Delete my data", or on WhatsApp.
  2. Tell us your name and the email, phone or Facebook/Instagram profile you contacted us with.
  3. We confirm the request is yours and delete your data within 30 days at the latest from our website, our customer service system and our mailing lists. We'll let you know when it's done.

We only keep what the law requires us to keep (for example, billing records), and only for the required period.

To leave just the newsletter you don't need to write to us: use the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of every email.

Security

The website always uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Only authorized agency staff can access the admin panel, with a username and password, and the keys for connected services are stored encrypted.

Changes and contact

If we change this policy, we'll publish the new version on this same page with its update date.
